    Exclamation Pic or Crystal

    Hello

    If any one have expert opinion in how to now if the Crystal is bad or the pic chip is bad.

    i made some board and no all work fine but i need to now what is the problems before change any parts..

    - Try the Internal Oscillator. If the PIC has one.

    - Use another PIC project that you know is working with a crystal, and try the suspect crystal.

    - Use another PIC project that you know is working with a crystal, and connect the OSC2 pin to the OSC1 pin of the suspect PIC.

    - Use a 555 type oscillator to create a frequency to apply to the OSC1 pin of the suspect PIC.

    - Use a 74HC04 to create an oscillator that you can test the suspect crystal with.

    - Oh, and check your config lines for the proper Oscillator Configuration.
    Might want to try that one first.
