    Default pic16f84 with pickit2

    good day to all members,

just purchase my new pickit2 starter kit from microchip direct. the chip i have readily available here is the pic16f84a. but the pic16f84 doesnt work with the starter kit.

is there any way to use this ic for the pickit 2 programmer.

    thanks

Which starter kit in particular are you talking about? Which model number? How old is it?
The 16F84 is an old chip, but well known and well used back in the day.

sorry sir skimask, but it doesn't indicate the version anywhere in the programmer or in the packaging.based on the computer program, pickit 2 v2.11. don't know it that is the version.

is there a particular way to find it

    thanks so much

    Default Microchip support

    hi

Maybe its worth posting your query to microchip on their forum

    http://forum.microchip.com/tt.aspx?forumid=15

They also have loads and loads of support for the hardware they manufacture, bit difficult to find at first, but once your onto it, your up up and away

    regards

    Duncan
