    Zk_bamx2,
    you need winXP, .net &MPLAB8 and its associated package pblished on MIcrochip.com
    You have to install the pickit2 2.4 driver .
    After plugging in the PICKIT2, run the pickit2 software-- select midrange devices, select 16f84A and then load the HEX file.
    make a small cable to plug into the ICSP socket - pins are described by them
    connect the other end to the relevant pins of the f84A..
    It should be possible to program Sir.

    thanks to all who helped me with this minor problem. the pic16f84a is now working fine. made my own picboard. i can now program the ic with the pickit 2.
