I don't have any big projects that would need that much processing power, except for maybe that audio spectrum analyzer... I'm not that good at assembly to be able to convert it over.
I was planning on getting some PIC24 stuff set up to play with, but that PIC32...that looks like some neat stuff...

just don't waste your time and don't use any PIC24... move directly to DsPIC instead... trust me, PIC24 really don't worth the price difference of any DsPIC ... they're a lot of cons of using PIC24 against DsPIC... RTFM and compare them... you'll see what i mean.
PIC32 are nice, but for now the tool-box is a bit limited. MicroChip C is overpriced, and Hi-Tech C have not released anything yet... but asm is free

Only reason I said PIC24 is because I was ignoring the dsPIC's at the moment. I know the dsPIC's are a load better than the PIC24, practically the same packages with a lot more options on the dsPIC side of the house.
So, are you saying you'd rather hang with the dsPIC crowd or move to PIC32, or both?
That pin reassignment stuff looks like a pretty cool option.
