    Question Pic Power

    Hi Guys & Dolls!

i got an electronic problem and donīt know if it could be solved by a single PIC or if I have to use two.
Heres the Problem concerning an automobile ignition circuit:
I got pulses with a frequency ratio of about 20 to 1 : from ca. 150 ms (engine cranking) to 2 ms. The coil needs 1 ms for charging.
first process: measuring pulse lenght (pulsin could do that)
second: starting charging the coil after "pulse lenght - 1 ms" that leaves the one ms and the follows the ignition .
this has to be done real fast! and the pulse lenght changes often.

do I need two pics?or three? is PBP fast enough?
tried this with a 12F629 without success because i need one loop for pulsin and a second one for the output.

can anyone help? Hi mister_e! (did me a favor two weeks ago)

    Hi,

I do not wear skirts ...

but have realized such an electronic ignition device aboard 12F629/16F84 ...

Using assembler ... works really fine . and there's room left !!!

Using PbP( with a touch of assembler ... ) ... did not give - to the day - really usable results for a 0° crank detector setting.

    research is in progress ...

But one thing is sure ... you must have many timers running at the same time !!!

IF there is the word "Problem" in your question ...
    certainly the answer is " RTFM " or " RTFDataSheet " !!!

    Wink solution done?

    Hi Ace,

you got that already running? I donīt need a 0° crank detector, a constant difference to 0 would do.

how do I get that software/schematic? left hand washes right foot or so?

    Angry

I had a really nice Excel sheet to load the ignition timings, processor and options ... into theASM program ( using MPLAB ) ...

But I recently discovered the Excel functions are in various languages ... so, the sheet developped with a French edition doesn't work in Foreign countries.

Some more thanks to Bill Gates ...
