    Default UPS serial protocol

    Hi,

Windows XP has an inbuilt generic UPS driver provided by APC. It communicates via DTS,CTS lines to get the battery and power failure status from the UPS. I would like to build one into my UPS and need some details. Like the polarity/pulse/period of the generic control or preferrably the serial protocol used by APC or other manufacturers. Intention is to be able to get battery level, power status and control of the UPS via a serial port.

    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    It's not a bug, it's a random feature.
There's no problem, only learning opportunities.

    Cool Would start experimenting

    Hi,

Well I would try to mimic the protocol and find out if my winxp pc understands it !!!! After successfully grasping it would port it to a PIC.

BTW how do you manage your bookmarks to send a real fast answer @ 10MIPS.

Your smartness makes me feel dumb. Thanks again from dumb and dumber people like me!!!!!!!!!
    Regards
