That's still 'round 30$... too much expensive. I never found it was 'intelligent' to waste your money on a serial LCD while you can do your own interface for about 5$ (including all hardware.. PCB, PIC, +++ ,+++ )in low quantity.
ANYways that model you found will work.

"HD44780 compatible" standard character LCD modules and standard graphic modules. We have small order stock of each module in stock and ready to ship today.
So PBP LCDOUT will drive it directly.
