    LOL

I wonder how many UK wiring installations are going to get really confusing now that Mains wiring colours have been changed.

    OLD - Function - NEW

    Red - LIVE1 - Brown
    Yellow - LIVE2 - BLACK
    BLUE - LIVE3 - Grey
    BLACK - NEUTRAL - BLUE

Shouldnt be too much of a problem in domestic installations but commercial 3 phase could be a nightmare !!!

I can see the logic behind it... we have Yellow/Green for Earth, Brown for Live and Blue for Neutral in single phase cables (I'm real glad that LCD didn't have a Brown and a Blue wire!). In panel-building, Blue DIN terminals were always used for Neutral. So this kinda brings single and three-phase somewhat in-line. And it eradicates Yellow being mixed with Yellow/Green (I have actually seen a supposed qualified electrician doing this in a factory!).

However I do really wish the powers that be stop tinkering. Ultimately, trust nothing and nobody but yourself.

    Hi,

You can direct drive a LCD if there is no electronics on the LCD glass.
