chip15, the advantage of using LVP is that you don't need +12 volts to program the device thru the reset pin. This makes the programing device lower in cost BUT, you lose the availability of the LVP pin designated for the device you are trying to program. This LVP pin can not be used as a general purpose I/O pin. I have seen other quirks with using this mode on diferent PIC processors. I usually just make provisions per the MicroChip documentation for programming the device normally if it does not have bootloader capability. That way I have use of all of the pins for I/O.

thank you for having answered me. I intend to use LVP with 16f819 and 16f877. These have the way LVP.
