This forum exists because the main AI and PICBASIC thread has grown to over 150 posts and nearly a million views. Clearly the community has an appetite for this topic. This area gives it a proper home.


The purpose here is practical and specific. Not a debate about whether AI is useful — that conversation is happening elsewhere. This forum is for people who have decided to try it and want to do it well.





What belongs here

  • Step-by-step guides for using AI tools with PicBasic Pro
  • Prompt templates that produce reliable results
  • Code examples showing the prompt that generated them
  • Notes on what works and what does not for specific devices or peripherals
  • Corrections and improvements to existing posts





If you post a code example, please include

  1. The prompt — exactly what you asked the AI
  2. The target device — which PIC
  3. The compiler version — PBP3 Gold, Silver, etc
  4. Whether it compiles — tested or untested
  5. Whether it runs on hardware — hardware verified or simulation only


That last point matters more than anything else. A compile-clean example and a hardware-verified example are not the same thing. Readers need to know which they are looking at.





Where to start


If you are new to using AI with PBP3, the tutorials posted in this forum cover the setup and workflow from the beginning. Start with the Claude Project setup guide — it explains how to give the AI the reference documents it needs to produce reliable PBP3 code rather than plausible-looking approximations.


If you already have a working approach and want to share it, post it. This forum improves with contributions.
