Now why hasn't creality ever suggested that to me. Not a question really.

Thanks for that, I have a tube coming in on Monday. I already have another hot-end / thermistor assembly beside the printer.

Did I mention that I bricked BOTH the mainboard and display cause their firmware upgrade instructions were garbage? I just left the new ones I bought at whatever version they were at.

I was forced to upgrade again now, but at least their instructions worked this time.

the motherboards are just arduino mega2650 dressed up a bit with a nice cnc coat on, you can recover them using another arduino as a icsp programmer.
i used my old mboard as a grbl core xy laser engraver just for fun, since i upgraded mine with the silent stepper drivers fancy pants board. its amazingly quiet now. its not improved the prints but they get there quietly

The Ender is relegated to small jobs, if I fix it.

Just got an Anycubic Kobra 2 Max, 420x420x500 and goes at ludicrous speed of 500.

This was out the box with no tweaking, must have been around 100, twice as fast as my Ender.

    Just saw this https://eu.store.bambulab.com/en-gr/products/a1

Although it has smaller printing area than Anycubic, it can color print and also has a nice feature for fuzzy printing, getting rid of the layer lines with most 3D printers.

just tried the "fussy" outer shell option on my ender5+, i like it and it hardly slows a print at all . i never knew it was there until now
thanks for that, its a nice way to disguise the layers. i wonder why its in the "hidden" options for the slicer
