OK, that did not work !
I have re instated CDN
Im really surprised it had such a detrimental effect.
At present i'm at a loss as to how to resolve this issue without making some major chnages to the server / site.
I'm seeing many people with the same issue. The redirect number is hard coded into the browser - i think.
Our site does not - should not - redirect more than 1 time.
It seems there is a loop being initiated somewhere. but at present i cannot see where.
I cannot reproduce the issue on any machine with any browser !
It is really strange that you cannot see the problem locally.
Maybe you have an earlier browser version?
Ioannis
im currently using
Firefox 109.01
Safari 13.1.2
Brave 1.46.153 built on (Chromium 108.0.5359.128)
I guess the solution is to migrate to Vbulletin cloud or Vbulletin hosted.
:{ too much work. I simply dont have the spare hours.
I understand that you use a MacOS system, right?
Well, I found now an old Firefox, version 109.0 that works perfectly on Windows. But right now it did an update and needs me to restart. Will do that and report.
Ioannis
OK, this reply is from a Firefox 190.01 version.
Seems to work OK.
But on this PC, Edge 109.0.1518.70 (Official build) (64-bit) does not work.
Neither Chrome.
Just downloaded Brave. Unbelievable!!! Brave also has a problem, even without been logged in!!! And also takes forever to load...

Today I tried again Chrome and Edge. It takes too long to .... time out finally!
Isn't that very strange?
Ioannis
Regarding the too many redirects issue. I have spent some time looking into this.
First off, I cannot reproduce it. I am testing from outside of my own network, connecting via a 4g service provider, using Firefox and safari.
I have traced the route of URL requests and see only 2 redirect
Browsing to picbasic.co.uk you are redirected to picbasic.co.uk/forum
and then when using the forum you are directed to picbasic.co.uk/forum/
Browsing direct to picbasic.co.uk/forum will result in a redirect to picbasic.co.uk/forum/
Browsing to piucbasic.co.uk/forum/
results in no redirects.
as far as I understand, there must be somewhere a redirect from within the forum to picbasic.co.uk - which will then result in the redirect loop
I cannot find this at the moment - I will continue to look into this issue
Have not Safari at the moment to test but Firefox works just fine here.
Chrome, Brave and Edge at the moment are not working.
Opera and Firefox do work.
Do you think that advs may have created the problem? I think this started after the google ads. By this I do not imply to disable them, just to find what is causing it.
Ioannis
P.S. To complicate things today Brave works just fine at the moment.

Hello
No the ads cannot have any influence on this issue. The redirect issue happens before the site is opened,
When trying different browsers it is very important to flush your browsing acche and remove all cookies. else the new installation will pick up from the old installation and the probelm will persist for some days before the new browser installation refreshes.
Hope that makes sense
Yes it does. But the very strange is that I installed Brave the other day and the first site I visited was picbasic.co.uk/forum, obviously without being logged in and the error came immediatly.
Today it tested OK. Cannot explain that.
Tried many times to completely clear everything from cache, cookies, history and temp files in vain.
Ioannis
Yes till still same problem here in UK with Latest Chrome and Edge.
Even with flushed cookies etc it refuses to work for days, then starts working like now and I'm posting this via chrome.
I expect after I press submit for this post I will be locked out again with too many redirects to see any responses.
Yes I was foiled by too many redirects after my last post..
Hello all
What is the current position re Too Many Redirects ?
I couldn't access the site for a couple days. I use Safari on a Mac and have never had issues, even when everyone else was. I'm back to getting on right away. Thanks for all your time and effort.
its back to mainly no go from chrome except in an incognito window, edge mostly ok randomly fails then a private window will work ok, no access possible from any of my android devices since latest samsung update. What is the current position re Too Many Redirects
Warning I'm not a teacher
I was hit by the "too many redirects" problem on Friday through till Saturday. Nothing would work - flushed cache, cleared cookies for picbasic.co.uk, tried incognito mode. Then on sunday, I got a 404 and the website checker isitdown or similar says the problem is at my end. Later in the day, the website was accessible once more incognito, so, I did log in.
Weird!!
I have removed a redirect from the base URL to the forum
If you visit http://www.picbasic.co.uk you will need to manually click the link to go to
http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum
Its VERY difficult for me to test the effects of changes I make to resolve the TOO MANY REDIRECTS ISSUE
I cannot easily reproduce it.
I would welcome feedback on the performance of the site today.
Direct email is acceptable, if the site is unaccessible to you
thank you
Lester
seems to be working ok with chrome this morning here , and edge
Warning I'm not a teacher
I've just got through today AND for my 1st attempt This is the 1st time I've managed to get through for months.
Troy
Good morning,is it OK to assume that the TOO MANY REDIRECTS issue is resolved - for the time being? The site should now be showing a padlock , though at this time we are not forcing the use of SSL
looks good from my end , even android devices are happy
Warning I'm not a teacher
I have discovered that if I post a message, then I will not be able to get back in for a few days. I'll try again with the latest changes.
On my end it shows padlock and confirms that the site is secure. Maybe Jerson you need once again to clear cache.
No Redirect problem on
Chrome
Opera
Edge
Brave
Firefox
But I noticed that when logging in first time, it shows a message and I have to refresh the page so that I am still logged in.
Ioannis
It maybe that it will take a couple of hours for the changes to propagate. All browsers should pick up the Time to Live for this site and automatically refresh.I will touch nothing for a full 24hrs to ensure that the changes have time to take effect.
The message I get, the first time logging in, is this:
Message from your administrator - Lester
Invalid Redirect URL (https://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/sea...e=vBForum_Post)
But I am indeed logged in despite this message. A refresh of the page or clicking any link proves that.
Beside the above, I think we are OK now. Hope others too are OK.
A big thank you to the boss.
Ioannis
Definitely resolved for me. Gone from never getting through at all to (now) getting through every time.
Troy
Seems better now.
Today, I got thru immediately. It does not seem to be https though, there's no padlock and the it says Not secure to the left of the addressbar on Edge Version 108.0.1462.95
Will try other machines later.
Try clearing the cache.
It definetly is secure with padlock.
Ioannis
If you exit the picbasic.co.uk page and clear your browser cache, Cookies and all site data. Close your browser. Re-Open and vist the site, you should see that the site is secure and running a certificate from a trusted CA ( cloudflare). The whole site is running behind cloudflare.
Just checking I can upload imges without problems.
Seems OK
Oh and this is how the server is secured.
We are secure to Cloudflare and Cloudflare secures to the end users browser.
Well, regarding pictures or other files, we now see this screen, that is not as easy as what used to be. And does not give you feedback if you did attached a file.
You have to submit your post and then confirm that a file was attached. No VBcodes or anything else.
Ioannis
Hello, I am testing with https://www.whynopadlock.com My browser tests show a padlock and i'm receiving a good heathchceck from whynopadlock.com
Today, I see the padlock. Till yesterday, it was shown not secure.
Yes. today the padlock is there with the same machine where it wasn't yesterday. Also tried another machine yesterday and it worked fine, padlock and all. Thank you Lester!
