I ran into this the other day. My provider's DNS was not working. I switched to Google's DNS so I could keep working and got the "too many redirects" message on this site and one other forum only. When the issue was fixed and I switched back to the provider DNS, the issue went away. YMMV

changing the dns from the router [isp locked in] default will be a total pain the change will not stick.
i just won't look at forum outside of the office anymore

DNS of 8.8.8.8 was also problematic. Certainly your choice to give up - but not sure what you want the forum to do to fix a problem basically caused by your personal configuration / gear.

since its a new "feature" i was hoping that it was an oversight or a cookie issue that lester may have been able to ameliorate
in some way. it is only affecting this site after all

I can understand that assumption, but it may not be only this forum, but rather this forum is the only location where you regularly go and see the issue. When I had the problem, it was this forum and RV.net. Other sites I tried worked properly.

It wouldn't surprise me if this has something to do with all the advertising on the site
    .

i don't think so, this link has the same issue and advertising is not evident
    http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/

dr google says its a hosting issue

it has taken me back to chrome to post this, with much difficulty i point out; edge is now unable to even reach the picbasic home page.
hoping the notifications still work, i have run out of ways to get here easily and can't see me putting up with jumping though all the hoops frequently.

I use Firefox on both Windows and android.
    No problems.

Can't say the same about Chrome.

    using chrome
make sure no browsers instances are running of any sort
    run chrome
    goto above link
    login there
    then select forum

Regarding the too many redirects issue. I have spent some time looking into this.

First off, I cannot reproduce it. I am testing from outside of my own network, connecting via a 4g service provider, using Firefox and safari.

I have traced the route of URL requests and see only 2 redirect

Browsing to picbasic.co.uk you are redirected to picbasic.co.uk/forum
and then when using the forum you are directed to picbasic.co.uk/forum/

Browsing direct to picbasic.co.uk/forum will result in a redirect to picbasic.co.uk/forum/

    Browsing to piucbasic.co.uk/forum/

    results in no redirects.

as far as I understand, there must be somewhere a redirect from within the forum to picbasic.co.uk - which will then result in the redirect loop

I cannot find this at the moment - I will continue to look into this issue
