I can also confirm the forum still does not work with Chrome.
I have to use Edge to use this site.

I use chromium on Linux and face no problems till now. Occasionally, I have the odd problem of being unable to zap spammers as the thread shows but will not be zapped. Then, I clear cache, reload the page and the zapping happens.
I am suspecting a browser hijack has got installed on the affected machines.
the rot is setting in, edge is now throwing the odd to many redirects too.

If it's not too much to try, I would burn any Linux ISO to a pendrive, boot it up and try browsing through that. It might help to identify the cause and will not disturb your existing setup in any way.
Just logged in by Edge since on my home laptop I have Edge and Chrome. Edge still works for me. Chrome still does NOT work...

my laptop upgraded edge yesterday to ver 6 or some such thing, and it's happening often now
no way hosay, its this site and this site onlyI would burn any Linux ISO to a pendrive, boot it up and try browsing through that.

Today my desktop machine greeted me with a new version of Edge and I can no longer reach the forum from it. To many redirects.
I'm typing this on my laptop, which do have updates pending so I guess it's just a matter of time until it too forces a new version of Edge on me.
It wouldn't surprise me if this has something to do with all the advertising on the site.

i don't think so, this link has the same issue and advertising is not evident
http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/
dr google says its a hosting issue
it has taken me back to chrome to post this, with much difficulty i point out; edge is now unable to even reach the picbasic home page.
hoping the notifications still work, i have run out of ways to get here easily and can't see me putting up with jumping though all the hoops frequently.

I use Firefox on both Windows and android.
No problems.
Can't say the same about Chrome.
why do computers always want to correct things for us even if the don't need to be
http://www.picbasic.co.uk was the link i tried to post that now fails too
ps.
using chrome
make sure no browsers instances are running of any sort
run chrome
goto above link
login there
then select forum
that works mostly , the first attempt fails every time
pps; edge is a no go for the whole site now
what a circus !!!

Just tried EDGE Version 109.0.1518.55 (Official build) (64-bit) and works OK on my Desktop PC.
Also Opera and Firefox.
Only Chrome has problem for me.
Ioannis
Maybe the redirects are from certain ads. Otherwise it's hard to explain why the problem sometimes happens for a few days and then is fine for a few days .. then broken again! Chrome does handle ad inserts differently.
Kind of funny. Ads are from google, Chrome from google too. But those two cannot go along together!

OK, now my EDGE also has the same redirect problem...!
Ioannis
Hello @all
did a Edge-update to version 109.0.1518.61
Looks good , the redirects are gone at the moment.
lappy1
Yes, that is the latest Edge but sooner or later will stop working...
Ioannis
I have made some changes. They may help resolve this issue.
Doesn't work on my main machine (with Edge). I keep postponing the update(s) on the laptop I'm writing this on (which is currently running Edge version 108.0.1462.46) as I suspect I won't be able to reach the forum if I allow it to update. I've only experienced the issue with this particular site/forum.
Indeed, updating Edge does not access the forum anymore...
The only browser that works is Opera. Which is not that bad. Has also that adv switch that kills every adv on YouTube! I like it alot!
Ioannis
do you think its ok that you have to install a special browser just to access this site ? i don'tDid you miss post 50?
how long will it be till firefox updates ? then what ?

I'm using Safari on a Mac and have no issues.
I have been looking at this issue.
I ahhve made several changes to the DNS to avoid DNS redirects.
There are redirects to HTTPS that I cannot avoid
However I am unable to reproduce the issue.
I would be interested to understand if when browsing to this site, you
1) select "Remember Me" when logging in <----- you should do this
2) After logging and and selecting "Remember Me"
you subsequently browse direct to http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php
NOT directly to
www.picbasic.co.uk
If someone could try doing that and let me know if its still an issue.
Lester
On Edge and Chrome, I tested direclty (as always do) the link http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php and result is the same.
Also the Remember me is checked. In either case I cannot login to logout and then test the Remember me again. I am still logged in but seeing too many redirects anyway.
Ioannis
it's a moving feast. incognito [edge inprivate window] gives greatest chance of success now
Warning I'm not a teacher
For me it does not work in either mode. In private it even takes forever to show the dreadful message...
Ioannis
Since I cannot reproduce the issue at present.
I just made another change to the way the url request is handled when visiting the forum, does the issue persist?
Do you see the same issue if visiting dt.picbasic.co.uk ??
On http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php no change.
The dt.picbasic.co.uk works OK though only on chrome not on Edge!
Ioannis
The forum is on Https and dt.picbasic.co.uk on http ? Is that correct?
Ioannis
I am sorry, but after my first on http://dt.picbasic.co.uk/ (Chrome) it stopped working that too.
So it seems after the first visit, none sites work anymore on Chrome and Edge.
Ioannis
OK, Im going to turn off CDN temporarily to see if that affects the issue
pleasev let me know if you see any improvement
Now Chrome says for both picabsic.co.uk and dt.picbasic.co.uk:
This site can’t be reached
www.picbasic.co.uk took too long to respond.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

On Opera no delays are noted and have no firefox here to test.
