Guys, I'm working on a project that uses a PCA9865 PWM chip, and ideally would like to drive a MOSFET (N channel) directly from the pins. The datasheet (if I've read it correctly) states that it can source 5v at 10mA, and I believe that it's possible to get TTL logic MOSFET's that permit the direct connection, and when browsing RS for suitable MOSFETs, get confused with all the other data in the datasheet.
I'm looking at switching 12-15v dc, up to 3A from each channel, and ideally would like the MOSFET to run cool without heatsinks. Can anyone suggest some suitable devices. P would prefer through hole rather than SOIC surface mount at this stage, but might need to go SOIC later if this project gets enough interest in the future.
