I've had that too, one time, a couple of weeks ago.
Received an email from the forum engine that someone had attempted to login, thankfully they failed.

Me too! Today, also from the general China region. Although the IP was different in my case.

Hmm, the question is, what are they trying to accomplish? There are certainly no monetary rewards in here.

They want to spam the forum (edit your posts, change your sig/home page/bio, etc).
Lots of money to be made.
