Darrel was a key person in PBP programming help and his name will be known for ever in this close circle
of chip programmers worldwide. One feels his death is unfair. He was still young, full of energy and
knowledge and always willing to help. It will be difficult or perhaps impossible to replace him. I myself,
being a beginner in PBP, did not have to ask him questions personally. The answers to my questions were asked by someone else already and placed by Darrel 5 -10 years before on the forum so I just had to find them. It crossed my mind that maybe his collected works should be available for sale and this could help his family. I know most of us already have at least part of this proposed collection of work by Darrel stashed away and used often. One of the most useful latest works by Darrel was his chip Config software that he published this year. If Darrel’s collected works make it into a book put me down for 3 copies.
God rest you in peace Darrel we will never forget you!

I have been busy with summer and haven't been on the forum much. I ran across this and my stomach just sank. Wow, is all I can say. I had stopped by meLabs with Jeff S. a while ago hoping to meet him in person and take him out to lunch for all that he has helped me, but alas, he was working from home that day. He was (and is) a celebrity on this forum and has been greatly responsible for my getting back into PICs. God's peace to all who knew him and will miss him.

So I ask once again. How can we preserve Darrel Taylor's legacy in code? How do we maintain all of his original works as not to be lost and to always be available for all future use?

I would think the folks at MeLabs is taking care of this, but I do not know. You could ask them.

I'm ( like many people here ) in shock !!!

I also had the chance to learn so much with Darrel.
He was that kind of person that would help others without any hesitation with his words, examples, etc.

He will be missed by all of us.

    RIP PBP Guru
I was discussing some code with a friend of mine a little while ago and referred that my work was based on Darrel's work. I got the shocking news then.

Although not pbp, still I refer to Darrel's work when it comes to PIC programming.

I don't know what else to say, but without him this forum will never be the same again.
    Regards
