Default pinout for all chips? standards?

I was wondering, the programming pins on all PICs, are they the same on every chip based on number of pins? So all 8 pin PICs will all use the same connections for its programming, 14, 16,18 40 pin etc. just wondering, Ive got some SOIC burn in sockets and I would like to have one set up for each (number of pins) chip, Ive got 8 pin up to 28 pin. would like to just have them all parallel with wires going to the proper pins.

The development boards I have do this so it should work.

Great sockets, what was the price?

I'm usually prototyping with breadboard and DIP encased MCU, when finished, then moving to SMD.

    Free!!!!

special deal from 3M sample program last year, I got 5 each of 3 different sizes.
unfortunatly there not in the sample program anymore dangit!

regular price is about $28 each. Although I have found some on ebay for 8 Pin chips 2/$6, different style but if it works...
