I've never used Wine so I cannot help you and I've pretty much given up on Ubuntu (which I've been trying to use since early 2006). Every major upgrade and many minor upgrades seem to break something and it has always taken several days to find cures. I've decided it's not worth the hassle. I have Fedora 9 running as a dual boot with XP Pro so I can develop (PureBasic) for Linux & Windows
