All the neat new stuff in the enhanced core PICs should be transparent to the end user. PBP 2.50/a/b already supports the '727, as does the PICKIT2. So, you really shouldn't need to upgrade anything hardware-wise. PBP software, yes. PICKIT2 firmware, probably wouldn't hurt. Brain-ware...very little.
