how can i debug & trace my program

i wrote a program in PicBasic Pro and now i want to trace my program
how should i do this in PicBasic Pro ?

Several ways

1. Use a serial communication Hserout/Serout/Debug etc etc
2. Use a LCD
3. Use a ICD (Microchip ICD-2, or Mecanique ICD which come with MicroCodeStudio Plus)
4. Use a simulator (MPLAB Mpsim, Proteus etc etc)
5. no pun intended... use your brain ;)

we just want simulate the program lick with bascom avr compiler that it has a "simulate menu"

I don't understand why people are so addicted to SoftSim but anyway... there's still MPLAB MPSIM (free) or Proteus/Isis $$$
