Hi all. I'm looking for a USB programmer to program 18F4550 PICs. I found the following programmer on ebay, but 18F4550 isn't in the list of supported devices. Do you guys think that this will work with an 18F4550 if I use a socket in-between the PIC and the ZIF socket that isolates pins 24, 25 & 26?

Though costly perhaps Bbarney's suggestion appears reasonable . now alternative is to contact the seller on e-bay thro' a querry seeking clarifiction before you buy-Quote:

Decided to go with bbarney's suggestion, and just bought a Pickit 2.
Now I just have to wait for it to arrive...
expensive? maybe you should check i don't think it's costly compared to the price of that kit with shipping is almost the same price but nowhere near as good a deal.I'LL say again buy the pickit

Only thing , designed by microchip-- better to accept and use it-- here too there are some critics- who felt they burnt their hands and he developed hatred for the item
I'am not going to squabble about an extra $10 or 15$ if you want a full featured programmer that is being continually made better with upgraded firmware without any extra cost to you than buy a pickit,if you want something to put it a drawer next month buy the other one.
just don't put it in the same draw where you keep your saving's:)
