Is there a 100% pin and software compatible one time programmable pic to the 16F84A ???
i'm sure something exist but... Why?
I dont want to spend too much cash on erasable PICs cause once i give away the projects the IC will never be erased again...
Flash chips arent expensive compared to the UV erasable ones and the modern flash chips have so many features.Quote:

We could just talk about the 16CR84 ... but programming must be done ... at factory ( ROM memory ), and min. quantities compulsory.Quote:

Speaking costs OTP products are as expensive as Flash ones ... the cost difference is for Windowed devices ( UV Erasable )

PS: Even OTP device programs can be modified ( "1"s can be overwritten by "0"s ) ... do not repeat it !!!
I think the best solution is to shift to the 16F84A.
Hi,Shahid
The 16F84 is quite an obsolete chip nowadays ... some pin and functions-compatible devices are MUCH costless ...
see µChip Direct for 16F628A i.e.
Another trick would be to buy stocks of "Leaded" devices ... but for the market ??? what really ???
