FAT16 and memory cards

I have a data logger that works with a MMC card and Win98. I would like to use it with XP, but it tells me the file is corrupt. Does anyone know what changes need to be made to the memory card organization in order to use it with XP? Also, I would like to upgrade to SD cards from MMC. How about the differences there, besides two extra contacts? Any direct help would be appreciated, or good references on the subjects.

Probably you have already answer to the problem. If not try reformatting the card in FAT16. By default XP formatted mine in FAT32 and that caused problems...

I ended up using the GHI ALFAT-SD module. It works fine.
