Custom cut wire
I've got a need for some custom cut solid hook up wire. The quantity I need make it entirely too time consuming to do it myself.
Specifically, I need 22ga solid insulated wire, 2 3/4 inches in total length with 3/16 inch of insulation stripped off each end. And I'd be ordering these wires by the 1,000. Probably 14,000 of these before I'm done.
Does anybody have a good idea of who I'd contact to get these done or how I'd go about it?

The quantities are too small for importing from the far east or for most companies to be interested... it'd take half an hour for the cut/strip machine to be set up, to then process 1,000 lengths in 40 seconds...
...But that's why they invented Boy Scouts. A reel of cable, a ruler, some wire cutters, strippers or a scalpel and a bag of money... and if you got no Boy Scouts handy, then any local kids (use same ingredients as above)... makes a change from washing your car for spare change...

That's an idea...
I don't know how I'd feel about having the kids next door messing with sharp objects on my behalf :) Maybe someday I'll get me some of those (kids that is) to do my little work for me...for a trip to get some ice cream or something.
I kinda figured that the companies wouldn't be interested in 1,000 pieces. How about the 14,000 pieces? Think I'd get any bites? And for that matter, who would I contact? Alpha, General Cable? That's just off the top of my head...

Depending on your budget, you could buy a small automatic or manual stripping machine, and do them yourself.
Here's a link to a source for second hand machines.

Maybe even use it for a while, then sell it on eBay :)

Nice idea...but out of reach with my budget.
Good idea with the ebay thing though...use it and lose it...

this one is easy
Squires (the quicker stripper)
they are in just this business and i have used them
for years
http://www.squires.com
we got an automated wire cutter a few years back
i thought the price was going to kill me but
now it seems to have paid for itself over & over
it doesn't strip though, those cost more and take
quite a bit of tweaking to keep up

DON"T get the Ideal Stripmaster!! (seen on this link below)
i made that mistake
actually do get one, i'll sell you mine
you need shop air though
we finally wound up with an electric Schleuniger
overpriced but pretty good
