Is it safe to enable PLL during normal operation?

Hi,

Just a quick question... is it ok/safe/reliable to enable the PLLx4 using an external 16MHz xtal with an 18LF45K22 chip during normal operation? I'd like to bump the processor speed to it's maximum of 64 MHz but I can't do this until I've initialised the SD card connected on the SPI port as maximum Fosc divisor is /64 I believe but the SPI is supposed to be initialisd at 400 KHz (?) I am hoping to run at 16 MHz, switch the SD card to SPI mode of operation etc, and then bump the processor speed up to 64 MHz using the PLL and then tell the SPI to run at Fosc/64.

Is this a stupid question? :._tongue:
