I don't understand if PIC16F876A has a built in oscillator or not, like 16F628 has.

Hi,
If you look at section 14.2 of the datasheet for the 16F876A you'll see that it has 4 oscillator modes available: LP, XT, HS & RC - no internal oscillator mode.
