Hi

I have a Vauxhall vectra and sinse removing the original stereo which used to display RDS data on the central display in the car, I have been thinking about using the central display for something else for example the inside temperature of the car, ill be using a pic micro with picbasicpro.

Does anyone know the communication protocol for the display unit?
and how to connect to it? ie which pins of the connector for the display unit do what?

Hi Wellyboot,

have fun with this link:
http://translate.google.de/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carluccio.de%2Findex. php%2FOpel_TID&sl=de&tl=en&hl=de&ie=UTF-8

Depending on what your car is equipped with, maybe you should try a search for "OPEL MID" for the three-line display or "OPEL TID" for the single line display.

Regards,

Ingo

Thanks a lot for the info/link

I belive my car is the MID display type, it has 2 rows on the display, time and temp at top and date (when radio off at bottom)

Not too sure how im going to control the MRQ line at the same time as sending I2C data, using the I2CWrite command as it would appear the MRQ line changes state in the middle of the I2C data being transfered.
