Hi Alain,

What was her car again?

Luciano

Hi, Luciano

Didn't she speak of a Ferrari, last time ???

For Steve, I hope there's an automatic gearbox option available ... that's not exactly similar to drive to a GM Pickup !!!

Honeymoon in Italy, possible ! ... so, keep an eye open !

Alain

PS: I just imagine Steve singing "O Sole Mio" as the gondolier ...

Now I get it I think.

The passenger on the left must be mister_e then?

Oooh!
I can't imagine little mister_es around!

Nope... he didn't marry me (at least not when I was awake/sober/etc)...

Actually, it's my boss that's got the Ferrari... but currently I got a shiny, nice, big, 4x4 , with a Carbon footprint bigger than the Amazon...

Only Mister_e can break the ice.

Thank God Steve did not marry MEL. Imagine Steve Marrying Mel and living at DT's place. I see myself as a bartender

Waiting for Steve.....

Now I'm really getting worried.
And I wonder about the validity of that email several of us got.

Steve never did log in to the forum.
And now his website's gone.

And the phone's just an answering machine.

Anyone live near Steve?
If he wasn't 3,000 miles away, I'd drive over and knock on the door.

He had a little accident (again...) and was in hospital for awhile. I suppose he is home now, but have not been able to contact him. I got an e-mail from a friend of Steve, Martin, stating the above, but nothing else.

There is no problem with having concern for someone. Steve is important to all of us, and we are all concerned.
By starting this thread you show your appreciation for all of the help Steve has given to all of us.

Do not worry, you did not cause the problem.

Hi,

Seems very helpless. A friend vanishes and we can't contact. We claim to be in a connected world.

Email , Website, Phone --- all gone. Isn't this a bit mystery.

Do we have anybody in this forum who was in close personal contact with Steve ?

His last post perhaps : http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=23024&postcount=40

was 3 months ago.

Ioannis
- 14th September 2008, 18:10
Yes it is. I had some phone conversations with Steve before he disappears. Since then, nothing but the mystery e-mails alot got from his ex-collegue.

Unfortunately, I am too far from his town to do anything...

Steve has been contacted, so you can stop worrying ... (as much).

He's alive, he's still working as a DJ, and he's NOT bedridden after a recent accident as previously reported.

Apparently, he just doesn't want to talk to us anymore. Those are his words, not mine.

So if you happen to stop by his night club? Slap him for me! ... Really hard!

From what I understand, He has had plenty of Trauma and Stress. PTSD is little understood, and people deal with those things in their own way. I would not slap him even as a metaphor, I am grateful for his help, his code, his sense of humor. When he feels better about "things" I hope he returns, I will welcome him. GOD BLESS YOU STEVE!

Yes they do. But that does not absolve them from the consequences of their actions.

I still think a good stiff SLAP is in order.

Or a good kick in the rear.

But something still does not seem right about this...situation .

Would like to hear all this from Steve and not from someone else though.

Darrel, did Steve or Martin contact you?

Well, Steve Martin has ...

But No, the information is still from a third party.
Neither of the above. But he does live nearby.

(From the WEB).

I’ve decided that I’ve been spending too much time on a few different Internet forums.
I probably spend too much time on the Internet period. It’s become an addiction and that
addiction doesn’t go well with the rest of my life. I read a few things on the Internet
about people being addicted to Internet forums. Apparently quite a few people have this
problem.

My problem is that I would spend hours at night surfing the forums and posting to them.
Most of the time it seemed that it was more of a “status thing” on the forums for me.
I was easy to want to be popular and have lots of posts, and post answers to questions
you know. Whatever thing you are into (for me it was knives) it seems to make you
want to buy or do more of that thing. For me just merely reading about another knife
would make me want to purchase it. Good high resolution pictures of the knife would make
me want it even more. It was getting insane.

It had to end. I decided that I am going to stop going to the forums altogether for at
least 30 days. I am starting this today. I am doing this because going to the forum has
become such a habit that it’s almost like “wrote memory”. It is just something that I do
when I’m bored. Instead, I should be doing something better with my life like going outside,
interacting with real people face to face instead of online, or exercising. I should go to
the park with my family, or get more things done around the house, or actually USE my knives.
It had gotten to the point that I had so many knives that they would be used so infrequently
that they would look new all the time. That has stopped. I sold all of my knives and we are
using the money for better things. I know have 2 knives that I use and carry, and they are
getting scratched up and looking used. This is a good thing. For those of you, who don’t
understand forum addiction or the love of edged tools;just substitute your own type of
addiction. Most addictions work in a similar way.

So, now my spare time will be spent in a more productive fashion. I do think to a certain
extent Internet forums are good. You can make friends there, even friends that you actually
end up meeting in person. You can get a lot of good knowledge and information there too.
The problem is that when that is all you do in your spare time it’s not a good thing.
You need to do everything in moderation. So for me, I’ll not be visiting for at least 30
days and then I will re-evaluate the situation and see how I feel. Will I be better off
or not? I’m not sure, but right now I’m leaning towards “better off”.
* * *

Sounds familiar to you?

Best regards,

Luciano

OK. What about phone, web site etc? He just disappeared. I know he had some misfortunes in his life, we talked about it on the phone and e-mails. He got shot, hit by a car, burned etc. So my concern is justified. I don't buy all this about addiction or DJ stuff. Sorry...

As far as I can tell, this "Letter" is not written by Steve.
Steve always makes simple grammatical errors just as I do. You can see it in his e-mails and postings.

How many grammatical errors do you guys see in the letter here? Almost none.

Either Steve has indeed told someone to write it down for him, or ??

Hi,

It is good to know that at least Steve is not broke from another accident.
Today whatever I do within my little scope, I am grateful to this forum. It is not that this forum helped me in every of my project but gave me the courage to explore knowing that people out there would help for free when I am stuck.

And mister_e's contribution to this forum cannot be denied.

So I think the matter ends here and it is Steve's discretion whether he joins back or not. So as Luciano said

Stop worrying about him and focus on real life.
