View Full Version : Color detection?

I am trying to make an RGB LED controller to follow the colors a sensor senses. I tried to use a photo resistor, but it was crap and only good at detecting brightness, of course, hehehe. Any suggestions on maybe a visible light wavelength detector, or something simple I haven't thought of? Maybe an IR detector or something. Thanks!

Newermind, I found it after I posted. Thanks!!!

$20 vs $65...
I don't know which one works better or which one is easier to work with or anything since I haven't tried either one out.

Hmmm, looks nice. Never seen that one before.

And that's the evaluation board @ $19.95
Looks like the actual sensor is only $9.95

Yup, a little better than $65 :)

Ya, that sensor looked like it was a bit too much of a PITA to solder up...

Thanks alot guys. It was funny, I followed one of Darrel's other posts and found the sparkfun detector right after I posted it. I am going to try the detector eval board.

Let us know how that little bugger works. I've been tempted to get one and play with it myself.

Reading the data sheet, it is about 2 years ahead of my current ability. I can send and recieve serial data to a serial graphic LCD, but this sensor seems a bit more advanced than a simple RGB analog signal I would like to be able to use. I ordered one, but it seems to have it's own digital processor and need a bunch of configuring. I am going to try to find a basic analog RGB sensor and work with that for a while. If you lived in Houston, I could take one of your classes and finish my ambient lighting project, hehehe.... Thanks!!!
