Hi guys,

I made a monumental stuff up with a board I made using pin RA5/MCLR on a F88 chip. Problem is that I want to toggle this pin between LOW and TRISA.5 = 1. Normal state of the pin is set high (TRISA.5 = 1).

After reading the data sheet it says this pin is input only, but surely, this pin can be driven low some how.

Anyone care to put me out of my misery?

The data sheet tells the truth. Input only.

Well, at least you didn't order 1000 PCB's with RA5 used as an output. ;)

Hardware equivalent of Cut And Paste. Use a jumper wire to move the connection to a pin that can be bi-directional.

Don't feel bad, I've made this same mistake may times. You'd think I would actually remember it's only and input, lol.

It can be helpful to edit your pcb layout software to label the pin as input only.

Thanks guys, just as I suspected... Yep I'll have to cut the tracks and do some linking. At least it's only two pcbs. :-)

Thanks for the tip Tenaja I'll do that.
