Hi.
This is my first post.
I am quite new to pics ( and LCD's )
I would like to be able to find out if an LCD module (HD 44780 ) that I have just bought, is working.
I have a Velleman K8048 programmer with mpasmwin and picprog2 software.
I have searched the internet, looking for an easy project to build on a proto board, using a 16f84 or 628, without much luck so far.
Can anyone help me out?

David Miles

The example in the Pic Basic manual is about as easy as it gets.
Just make sure the ADC and comparators are shut down if you pic has them..

If you have lost your manual it can be viewed on line
http://www.melabs.com/resources/pbpmanual/
Look at the LCDOUT command.

If you have lost your manual

Amazing how that happens isn't it? I don't know about the rest of the world, but if I bought a $250 program, I don't think I'd be misplacing the manual anytime soon. Am I alone here?

A duck at my aunt's house flew off with it
A flash flood washed my manual away
A team mate has it
Another teacher borrowed it as an example to show her class an example of neatness
I accidentally flushed it down the toilet
I dropped it down a drain
I dropped it in the pool while teaching my brother to swim
I fed it to a dog which was dying of starvation
I left it at my grandparents house
I left it at softball
I left it in the shower
I left it on the school bus
I left my manual on the UFO I was beamed up into yesterday
I left my manual at school
I sent it to my friend as a present
I spilt ink all over it
I spilt syrup all over it
I used the paper for origami
I was at my uncles and his robot went crazy and ripped it up
I was hungry so ate it for a snack
I went on a boat trip and it fell overboard
It blew out of my hand
It got stuck in the garbage disposal unit
It got wet in last nights storm
Its in dad's car
Its under my pillow
Mum stewed it for our tea
Mum washed it and I forgot to take it off the line
My bag has a hole in it and it must have fallen out
My brother had a tantrum and ripped it up
My brother threw it out the window.
My cat buried it in its litter tray
My cat died and I didn't have any paper to wrap him in, so I used my manual
My dad put it in the safe and I've forgotten the combination
My dad thought it was a tissue and blew his nose on it
My dad thought it was waste paper and threw it on the fire
My dad took it to work
My girlfriend has it
My homework machine broke down
My house was invaded by bugs who ate everything paper in the house
My mother ironed it
My mum accidentally cooked it
My mum accidentally used it as a nappy for my baby brother
My mum needed it for a university assignment
My next door neighbour's house burned down
My sister hid it as a joke and won't tell me where it is!
My sister in year 12 needed it for a test
My uncle needed it for an experiment
Porridge got spilt all over it
The bird ate it
The cat had kittens on it
The dog ate it
The dog buried it
The English teacher has it
The voices in my head told me to rip it up
There was a blackout and I couldn't find my manual
We were robbed last night and it got stolen

Gentlemen!

The PicBasic Manual does not list a command LCDOut. Consequently no direct LCD drawing. Now the PicBasicPro manual does have the necessary command and drawings on how to connect it.
