I was digging through my box of IC's looking for something and came accross these. I looked up the data sheet on microchips web page and it says its a Digital Signal processor. Does anyone know how to use these? I must have gotten them thinking they were ordinary PICs and the do seem to be very similar. The only problem is I see no mention of them in Picbasic (which is a big problem since I dont want to do assembly), and even if I did do assembly cant seem to find a "programmer" software. I do have a JDM programmer I use with a 40 pin ZIF socket as well. So any thoughts on how to use these would be helpfull..

thanks.

Hello, PicBasic doesn't support dsPIC's. But you can download a student version of MPLAB C compiller for dsPIC's and the datasheet in Microchip website.

And really.. forget JDM... you really don't want to use such stuff.

Buy yourself a better device programmer... at very least MicroChip PICKIT 2 or BlueRoomElectronics Junebug.

Well it only took the better part of 3 years but I have a USB programmer on the way. Hope it works. ;)
