Laser tag systems

hi to all. i appologise for how this is written but im new to this.
i have just purchased an easypic4 development board and plan to use the pic16f877 chip. The project i plan to do is similar to the "quasar" laser tag system and i was wondering if anyone had any circuits or code i could work from. i know its a bit vague but im still in the early stages and i need all the help i can get.
