IR communicaton with PIC16F84A

[PIC noob]

i plan to use the PIC16F84A to do the IR transmitter and receiver. Is it suitable for this applicaton??

i wan to transmit digital signal serially with 8 bit data...

And can anyone direct me the proper way or source code...

This one's better, but you'll need to swap out that old F84A for a 16F628A.
