Am I correct in my discovery that if I use DEBUG/DEBUGIN I can only send only byte variables? I get errors when I try to send word-sized variables.
I don't have any trouble with SEROUT2/SERIN2

I don't think you can send any word size variable with any command.

Need to send lowbyte / highbyte of word separately as you know.
