Design UPS by using PIC 16F877

i have a project to design UPS (uninterruptible power supply) by using a microcontroller (PIC 16F877). i have no idea on how to design it. can anybody give an idea about it?

What exactly do you want to acheive?

If you're planning to build a UPS, don't underestimate the size of the DC cabling that you'll need to carry the current when it switches to battery without starting a fire. Also make sure your insulation is sufficient for the voltages you're dealing with.
