I'm currently using Celestial Horizon's CH Basic. Its very basic in so much that I find writing almost as much assembly code as the basic. I'm thinking of PICBasic??

I would also like to know if MPLAB's ICD 2 is a worth while investment. I've just finished a little project where a stepper motor is used to control telescope focus. Debugging consists of the simulator and guess work. I found the simulator, MPLAB, could not simulate a EEPROM write!

I also found the Tiny ICD but my belief is that the quality is a little down. Has any body used either of these two??

Thanks

John

ICD-2 is more than a Debugger, it's also a programmer. so it worth the investement IF and ONLY IF you plan to use the debugger. I have it but i used it 2-3 times not much.

If you plan to buy PICBASIC think about the PRO version. Sure much expensive but worth the price. Less time consumming, save your hair loss and head banging.

You're always get for what you pay for. Period!

Thanks mate.

I think PICbasic sounds like a good choice.
