really up a wall trying to program a 16f877a will not run with any programs

have one that some else programed works fine only have hex file

is there a start button cannot get anything to work as simple as blink led

no lcd no serin nothing
have checked electrical mclr 1 resistor to +5
crystal pin 13-14

I don't thank anyone will be able to help you based on the limited information in your post. You'll need to state things like:

1) - what hardware programmer are you using.
2) - what software you use to send the HEX file to the PIC
3) - details of your hardware, how are you testing the PIC
4) - details of your PBP code

Without this sort of info I think most of the suggestions (if any) will be guesses

one question that comes up is the define osc 20 does not seem to work

built a small prototype with a 4mhz crystal and got blinkie to work

is there a better statement to insur this works or is my syntax bad

as for as the programmer k149 and it will program the sample chip and it works fine
hardware is as simple as you can get nothing but power and crystal

except when i am using it on a factory wired board which works fine with
the programed chip
just trying to make changes
