I have a transistor 2N2222A. The max Vbe is 6V - I understood that.

Can I ask if it is OK to pull the base -20v below emitter? The datasheet does not specify any -ve limit. Can someone help me understand this basic concept?
Thanks

The Vbe is 0.6V. The positive voltage on the base with respect to the emitter referring to Base-Emitter saturation and also causing Collector-Emitter saturation.
Looking at a datasheet, the 6V referred to is the Emitter-Base Breakdown Voltage. This would mean a max of +6V at the emitter with respect to the base putting a Max -6V at the base.
So a -20V is too much.
