Hello,

I have a question regarding function and hardware connection with a Bluetooth module. I am interested in the BlueSMiRF gold found at Sparkfun.com. It has TX, RX, CTS and RTS. If I want to use this module as a data link from Android phone to the bluetooth module connected to 16F877A, do I need to do anything with CTS and RTS? I have seen schematics where they short CTS and RTS together. Why is not very clear to me...This is my first time with BT modules... any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Nick

Sparkfun no longer sells it but they do have the schematic online and it shows RTS & CTS connected.

RTS=Ready To Send CTS=Clear To Send

These are handshaking lines. Some devices implement them; some do not.

This (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arduino-Serial-Bluetooth-RF-Transceiver-Module-RS232-backplane-/251004150858?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3D UA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D260879255730%26ps%3D63%26clk id%3D6844541738428261177) costs much, much less and does the same thing.

Mine took about 8 days from China to Cincinnati.
