I have an application in mind that would require the individual control of 60 tri-color LED’s using I2C com from a 16F886 to control a pair of Maxim 6955. I have used this Maxim devise once in the past for simple 16 segment display drivers. The data sheet suggests this part would do what I want it to if I approach the problem as 180 individual LED’s. I think I understand how to hard wire the LED’s from the drivers - but still have a couple of question about that. What I don’t understand is the addressing method that would be used to on/off each LED as a display would use the built in ASKII lookup table. This part should be able to control individual contrast as well. Question: Does anyone know of an app note or someone’s write up explaining individual control of multi LED's using the Maxim 6955 or 6954?
