thanks for the info Darrel, the link was very helpful, I think i even learned what bit banging is too! lol. i work on EST fire panels and always wondered how the mechanics worked for it interogating the loop for new smokes, I think i even understand now what they mean by " letting the start bit reset " lol, Thank you again.
