I currently have MPLAB ICD ver 1 and it would appear it is not compatible with the latest devices, as it is 5-6 years old. I would like to use a 16F628A at the moment.
I also like MPLAB as a programmer and debugger. Is there hardware out there with possibly a protype / developement area that will also allow me to serial program a PIC once its in circuit.
Oh, and a UK supplier would be good.
Thanks for any recommendations.
Steve

Thanks for your reply. Looks like the EPIC SERIAL version will be my best option, not cheap are they !
Does this support the latest MPLAB software (ver 7) or is it best to use their own melabs Programmer with PicBASIC ?

Steve

Hi, Tissy
Did you had a look to the PIC X1-K ( Kit ) from Melabs ... ???
That's just a not-too-expensive-idea ...

Both version EPIC or SERIAL EPIC will support MPLAB V7. Since it's the tool who will make all your PIC and application work, consider every pounds as a great investement for you. You'll pay once... for awhile. i'm still afraid of those 'free or cheap stuff' on the web.

Your guidance over the last week or so has been invaluable and i trust your judgement. The order has been placed for the EPIC Serial Programmer along with the UK power supply and the 8-40 ZIF Adaptor.
Thanks again,
Steve
