View Full Version : Too many pics to choose from

For years the only chip I ever used was the PIC16F877, but a few years ago I branched out and am now up to 4 chips I use regularly. Once new chips were added to my regular usage it got annoying to have to scroll through hundreds of micros in the drop down list to get from the 12F629 to the 18F4520. This was true for both the MELabs Programmer and microcode studio plus. I was always hoping that both these programs would be updated to have your frequently used pics at the top of the list, but either they never did or I never got the update.

Finally it occurred to me to just hide all the unused micros. So I made a folder "unused micros" in both the melabs folder and the current pbp folder. Just move the unused .epc files for melabs and the unused .inc and .bas files for microcode studio. Be sure you only move the files with microchip part numbers not the other files which you might use. If I ever want to use another chip all I'll have to do is move the files back to their original location.

It was a very simple solution to something that annoyed me for years, so hopefully it will be useful to someone else.
