Hi Folks

I have been using the EPIC Plus programer now for several years - no trouble up to now.

However, this evening it decided to issue a "Configuration Programming Error" - never done that before!

If I uncheck the "Program / Verify Configuration" option it works fine - providing I only use a chip previously programmed (with the appropriate configuration)

I can use the EPIC on the laptop with no trouble which makes me think it is a software problem.

I have had a good look at the archive and it looks like there are lots of bad experiences with the epic - anyone got any good ideas about this one.

Kind regards (and many thanks)
Peter

Do you have the "Update Configuration" option checked?

Yes - I have tried it with this option both checked and unchecked - systematically gone through all of the options one by one. It seems only to be the configuration programing and only on the desktop machine. Not making any sense to me.

If everything is the same from one PC to the next, I.E. the same parallel cable, same EPIC software settings/options, EPIC, power supply, .hex file, PIC, etc, then I would suspect either a different software setting, bios parallel port configuration, or a printer driver on the desktop that's not on the laptop.

Try this, and see what happens.

On your desktop PC locate the epiccfg.ini file in the EPIC directory. Rename it old_epiccfg.ini. Copy the epiccfg.ini file from your laptop into the desktop EPIC directory.

Does it work?

That sounds like a good idea - I will give it a try. In the meantime however, I downloaded MeProg from ME Labs - that workd perfectly. I am convinced it is a software issue with the Epic software on the Desktop - just don't know whey it has worked flawlessly for about 4 years then just stopped!

Thanks for the advice

Regards
Peter
