Sorry if this isn't perfectly on-topic, but -

I have a new laptop with Vista installed. PBP compiles perfectly. MPASMWIN starts and it begins assembling. A DOS window opens and displays nothing for minutes. Finally, it finishes successfully.

Task manager shows that one of my cores is running nearly 100%.

Has anyone else noticed that MPASMWin runs very, very slowly under Vista?
If so, is there any fix.

I'll contact Mchip as well.

Well, I encountered similar problems when I bought me a new laptop with Vista. None of my programs including AutoCAD and PBP worked with Vista. What was my fix? I got rid of Vista and installed Windows XP in my laptop. That's how I fixed my laptop.

While I understand your sentiments, I want to stick with Vista for now, because I want to mass-upgrade to Windows 7. Windows 7 has the same issue (slowness with MPASMWIN).

Except for the MPASMWin issue, I have usually found Windows 7 to be faster than XP.

But this isn't the forum for OS wars.

For what it is worth, I turned off User Access Control (UAC) in Vista.

Now PBP, MCStudio and MPASMWin work perfectly.

And to answer an earlier comment, AutoCAD 2008 works for me as well.
