hello

i'm work with the melabs serial programmer and i want to replace a pic16c58 in a existing environment.
does anyone know a pin compatible typ for the 16c58 (18pin dip) which can be programmed with the melabs serial programmer?

As i know, every 18pins package are pin to pin compatible. the only diference will be in the internal capability (a/d, memory, USART, etc)

PIC16c622, PIC16c71X, PIC16F628, 16F819 are good choice depending what you want to do with... The best way to know what will fit to your application, see the Microchip website under the Microcontroller section OR Melabs product selector http://melabs.picbasic.com/Scripts/perl/picsearch.pl

No, the 18 pin devices are not all pin for pin compatible. the 16c717 has only half in common with a 16f628 or 16f84. thought i'd post this just in case.
