I just came from Microchip searching for a OTP equivalent of the 16F628A and either have overlooked it or maybe there isn't one. Usually the OTP are cheaper and I might save a dime or a penny, Any suggestions?

Thanks

I think you may be mistaken. OTP devices are generally more expensive than their flash equivalents. Take a look here:
http://www.microchip.com/ParamChartSearch/chart.aspx?branchID=1002&mid=10&lang=en&pageId=74

Look for any 18-pin OTP device with 3.5K Flash and you will see that it costs more than the 16F628A.

Hi,

Time to wake up ....

OTP devices are disappearing, 16F628A is a 2K FLASH device and you just have to set the config word with "protect memory ON"

PS: looks you have forgotten the Forum SEARCH ... am I wrong ??? The topic is not "brand new" ...

Well, thanks for the reply, and yes I did do a search here on the forum. Perhaps its just this computer but when I searched this forum all I found in return was post that had the '628 mentioned in them. At Microchip's 8-bit page: http://www.microchip.com/ParamChartSearch/chart.aspx?branchID=1002&mid=10&lang=en&pageId=74

I just saw the flash, but thought I would ask to make certain that just because it is Monday that maybe I've missed something.

Anyhow, I do appreciate the info.

Thanks
