J1708 links/help

I'm trying to find information on the j1708 protocol. it's used in commercial vehicles (trucks and busses). I want to read the packets and display speed rpm mpg etc. Thanks

It's been a while since i last searched, and there's a lot more info out now. I should have checked before posting. I'll only have this truck a few more months, and my new one should have 1939/can. so this project is dead before it got started. but thanks for the link!
